Terms of use
Last updated November 3, 2026
These terms govern your use of whmiscert.ca (the "Site"), the free WHMIS course and exam, and the purchase of a certificate of completion or annual refresher (the "Services"), provided by AFFINITI ("we", "us"). By using the Site you agree to them.
1. What the Services are
The course delivers the generic education component of Canada's Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015, including the Hazardous Products Regulations amendments in force December 15, 2025). The exam tests that material. The certificate of completion records that the named person completed the course and passed the exam on the stated date with the stated score.
Important notice. We are an independent training provider. No federal, provincial or territorial regulator approves training providers or issues WHMIS certificates to workers; a certificate of completion is a record, not a licence. Employers remain responsible under their jurisdiction's occupational health and safety law for workplace-specific training, for ensuring workers can apply it, for reviewing their WHMIS program at least annually, and for keeping training records. Whether to accept any training record is the employer's decision. The Services are not legal advice and do not guarantee employment, access, or compliance.
2. Eligibility and accuracy
You must be at least 16 years old to purchase a certificate. You agree to enter your own legal name and a working email address, to complete the exam yourself without assistance, and not to obtain a certificate for anyone else. Certificates obtained by misrepresentation are void and may be removed from the verification record.
3. Prices and payment
The course and exam are free. The certificate costs CAD 24.95 and the annual refresher CAD 9.95, one-time, in Canadian dollars, plus any tax shown at checkout. Payment is processed by Stripe; we don't store card details. Prices may change; the price shown at checkout applies.
4. Delivery and refunds
The certificate is a digital product issued immediately after payment, by download and by email. Because it is delivered instantly, all sales are final, except: duplicate charges; failure to deliver that we cannot resolve within 5 business days; or where applicable consumer-protection law requires a refund. One free reissue for a spelling correction is available within 7 days. See the refund policy.
5. Verification record
Each certificate has an ID and QR code. The verification page shows the holder's name, completion date, jurisdiction and recommended review date to anyone who enters the ID; by purchasing you consent to this disclosure, which is the purpose of the certificate. Scores and contact details are not shown. We may remove a record for fraud or misrepresentation.
6. Review date and refresher
The recommended review date is 12 months after completion, reflecting the annual review employers must carry out. It is a recommendation; no law sets an expiry date for worker education. Refresher reminders are sent only with your consent and can be stopped at any time.
7. Intellectual property
Course content, questions, design and code are owned by AFFINITI. You may use them for your own learning and share your certificate with employers. You may not copy, republish or resell the course or exam. GHS pictograms are UN material and are not claimed.
8. Acceptable use
No automated access, no attempts to extract exam answers, no interference with the Site or the verification record, no use of the Services for unlawful purposes.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Services are provided "as is". We keep the content current with the regulations to the best of our ability but do not warrant that it is complete, error-free, or sufficient for any particular workplace, and we are not responsible for your employer's acceptance decisions or for any injury, loss or claim arising from workplace hazards. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; the date above shows the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes will be brought in the courts of Ontario, without limiting any rights you have under the consumer-protection law of your own province.
